What a brilliant movie.  Apparently it was Tom Hanks day on TV.  This was on ABC, and Forrest Gump was on TNT.  And Big was probably on Disney or something.

Well, I've been sickly for the last week.  Not too bad, but enough to "put me on the bench."  I got some pills from the UTD doc on Thursday and have been doing pretty much nothing for the last two days.  It's been nice, but I'm starting to get a little restless...

I can't remember if I've commented about who they chose to be the host of the Oscars next month:  Jon Stewart.  I'm really psyched; he's a funny guy.  I remember seeing him on Larry King several months ago, and Stewart made him almost fall out of his chair laughing.  You could hear the camera guys and directors in the background belting out laughter.  And what he said to the guys on Crossfire went right up my alley, about how angry people yelling at each other accomplishes little and only deepens the rift between the left and right extremes of the political spectrum.  But as I say this, watching the Daily Show is a guilty pleasure; realistically, it probably does the same thing, just in a different way.  Still, Jon (I'm on a first-name basis) seems much more level-headed than the Michael Moores and the Rush Limbaughs of the world.

But I digress.

Back to the Oscars...they announce the nominations for this year on Tuesday.  (I read somewhere that among considerations for Best Actor is King Kong.  And no, I'm not joking.)  Me being the movie buff that I am, this whole thing always has me intrigued.  I still think movies are better than books.  Feel free to disagree with me there.

Trivia Question:  What is the hometown of the great Jimi Hendrix.  (Bryan, you're not allowed to answer.)

Later ya'll.

All right! My chance to answer some questions... is it Seattle? Seems like a lot of music talent comes out of there for some reason.

I agree... I'd take the movie over the book any day. Somehow I seriously doubt Forrest Gump, the book, is even nearly as entertaining as the movie.

I also think Toy Story is on the Disney Channel tonight. More money in Hanks' pocket!

Nicely done. Indeed, the great Hendrix hails from the gray, perpetual rainshower they call Seattle. That must be why he was such a great guitarist; he was always stuck inside with nothing else to do.

I understand the other great Hendrix is your roomie... :)

Jon is going to be an awesome host. I can't wait to see it.

I think their plan for letting him host is so that the younger crowd will watch the Oscars, and it seems like that's going to happen.

I disagree. Books are better than movies.
