| | I know it's a day late but...here's a little something I got from my uncle about the fifth of May:
Most people don't know that back in 1912 Hellmann's mayonnaise was
manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000
jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico,
which was to HAVE been the next port of call for the great ship after
its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single
shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But, as we know,
the great ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever
lost. The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, were
eagerly awaiting its delivery and were disconsolate at the loss.
Their
anguish was so great that they declared a National Day of Mourning,
which they still observe to this day. The National Day of
Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko
de Mayo.

Well, it's been like 5 months since I wrote an entry longer than two
sentences, so I guess I'll break that streak. I know that most
people are fighting through finals week, so I won't brag about starting
summer. But I made it through the semester alive! Work +
school was tough and swallowed up most all my free time, but everything
turned out OK. As for summer plans, I'm gonna be staying in Big D
for the most part just a-working. Next Monday I start a
mini-mester literature course. Come mid-July I'll be coming back
to good ol' East Texas for a few weeks; looking forward to that!
And Aug. 19, I'm gonna finally go see DMB!
For those who are curious enough, I started a website:

You should go see Thank You For Smoking...quite a good movie. Alyssa and I saw it last weekend and had lots of good laughs.
Hooray, Barbaro! I had a million bucks riding on the Derby today.
I s'pose that's it for now. Good luck to all with finals!
